KDE Plasma 6.0.2 Enhances Night Color, Discover, Plasma Wayland, and More

The KDE Project has released KDE Plasma 6.0.2, the second bugfix update for the KDE Plasma 6 desktop environment. This release addresses various bugs, crashes, and issues reported by users. Among the fixes are improvements to the Plasma X11 session and enhancements to the full-screen functionality of VLC and MPV video players.

This update comes shortly after KDE Plasma 6.0.1 and includes fixes for the Night Color feature on certain GPUs, crashes in the Plasma Discover package manager, and Wayland errors when turning monitors off and on. Additionally, it resolves issues with the “Move to Desktop > All Desktops” titlebar menu item on the Plasma X11 session and a KWin crash related to secondary monitors and graphics cards.

The update also resolves various bugs, including a problem in the Kicker applications menu where the search field covered the first search result. It fixes an issue with the cursor moving unexpectedly when dragging a window off the left side of the screen in the Plasma X11 session. Additionally, it addresses a problem on the Region & Language page in System Settings where the text of the previews for individual formats became distorted when setting the system language to “C”.

Furthermore, the update fixes a bug that caused the lock screen to display a black background on X11, a Plasma crash related to the Battery Monitor widget, and another Plasma crash that occurred when middle-clicking tasks in the Task Manager or rapidly left-clicking on random audio-playing tasks. Additionally, it resolves two X11 issues: clicks no longer get stuck on part of top panels, and broken lock and sleep inhibitions have been fixed.

The latest update addresses several issues, including the Media Player widget’s ability to scrub through songs in Spotify. It also fixes multiple panel widget issues that incorrectly passed focus to their parent panel when activated. Additionally, the update resolves problems with System Tray icons having the wrong color in mixed dark/light themes and slow Plasma startups when using the Bing picture of the day wallpaper.

In this release, KDE Plasma 6.0.2 re-implements the fix for VLC Media Player and MPV video player to go full screen. It also allows correct focus to be passed to the Calculator widget on a Panel when activated using a keyboard shortcut, enabling immediate calculation without needing to click on the widget.

Additionally, KDE Plasma 6.0.2 enhances the KRunner-powered search fields in the Search widget and the Overview effect, ensuring search results are displayed in the same order as other results. It also introduces the ability for Plasma to remember wallpaper slideshows, starting from the last one used upon login. Furthermore, the update includes support for the Power and Energy widget to hide its “Show Battery percentage on icon when not fully charged” option when the system has no battery.
